The short version

No account, no profile, no advertising identifiers. Your guesses and statistics live in your own browser, not on our servers.

Stored in your browser

Local storage holds your current puzzle progress, your results history (games played, games won, average guesses, best rank, hints used) and your light or dark theme choice. Clearing site data in your browser deletes all of it permanently, including any streak.

Sent to our server

When you submit a guess, the word and the puzzle reference are sent so a rank can be returned. These requests are not tied to an account or a persistent identifier. Standard server logs may briefly record IP addresses and request metadata for security and abuse prevention, and are not used to build profiles.

If you create a custom puzzle, the secret word, the optional label and the generated share code are stored so the puzzle can be played later.

Cookies

The site sets no tracking cookies. Preferences use local storage rather than cookies, which is why nothing about them is transmitted with your requests.

Analytics

The site is built to work with a privacy-respecting analytics tool measuring aggregate events such as a game starting or a hint being used. Secret words and full guess histories are never included in analytics data. If no analytics provider is configured, nothing is sent at all.

Third parties

No data is sold. Should advertising be introduced, this page will be updated before it goes live and will name the provider.

Children

The game is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your choices

Clear site data to erase everything stored locally. To have a custom puzzle you created removed, email hello@contexto.games with its link.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
