Create your own puzzle
Choose a word, get a link, send it to someone. They play the same ranked-guess game — you just picked the answer.
How custom puzzles work
When you submit a word, the server checks it against the game vocabulary, stores it privately and generates a random share code. Rankings for that word are calculated on the server the first time someone plays, so a custom puzzle behaves identically to a daily one.
The share code is random and unrelated to your word — nobody can read the answer out of the link, and neither the page source nor the API ever contains it until a player chooses to give up.
Choosing a good word
- Common beats clever. Rare words produce flat rankings and frustrating rounds.
- Concrete nouns are the friendliest; abstract nouns make a genuinely hard puzzle.
- Names, brands and places are not in the vocabulary and will be rejected.
Limits
Custom puzzles are rate limited per player to keep the feature usable, and custom puzzle pages are excluded from search engines — they exist for the people you send them to, not for search results.
